Abdeen Criminal Court ruled on Monday 13/07/2015 the sentence of five years and a fine of five thousand pounds to “Ammar al-Shalabi,” a student at the Faculty of Commerce – Cairo University, on charges of belonging to an outlawed group, and protesting without a permit.
Recalling that the student was arrested arbitrarily in violation of the law and international conventions on February of last year in 2014 following the resolution of the security forces of one of the demonstrations opposition to the current regime by force, and after his arrest in violation of Article “19” of the Universal Declaration of Rights and Freedoms that “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression, this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek information and ideas, receive and impart any media and regardless of frontiers. “
