Thought and opinion freedom is guaranteed,” every one has the right to express his opinion whether by speech, writing, photography, or any other way for publishing and self expressing.

Civilians have the right to arrange public meetings, processions and demonstrations and all sorts of other peaceful protest without carrying any type of weapons with a notification according to the way the law states.

These were the statements of the items number 65 and 73 of the Egyptian constitution of 2014  and that is exactly what is being violated by the Egyptian security forces and military recently in an unacceptable way. They didn’t violate only the Egyptian constitution but they also violated the international laws and documents related to human rights. In the following lines we are tackling the blatant violations against students of Egyptian Universities and institutes by security forces from the date: 25th Jan 2015 till the date: 29th Jan 2015.

First: 25th Jan 2015, that day witnessed a number of violations in the memory of the revolution that came out with 5 killed students and a number of arbitrary detentions. The 5 students were killed in MAtareya and Ain Shams area by security’s ammunition shot in head and chest that killed on the spot. 4 students were at University and 1 is in the secondary stage.

The murdered students are:

Abdul Rahman Hussein, a student in the first year, agriculture faculty in Azhar university

Ahmad Al Saeed Ghanem, a student in the 5th year, faculty of engineering, Cairo University

Ayman Gamal, University student

HAmdy Hassan El Hendy, University student

Mohammad Saeed, Secondary studnt

Also, there is an injured student, Abdul Rahman Safwat.

Regarding the arbitrary detentions, the total number of detentions on that day arrived 69 students, 23 young men and 17 girls are in the secondary stage. The 17 girls were set free and 4 young men were set free as well. Whereas the number of the arbitrary detentions for University students reached 46 students including 5 girls were set free.

When it comes to violations on 25th Jan 2015 including torture and collective detention, we found that 4 students were tortured that day: one of them is in Al Maady police office, another was in the central security campus in Al Aasher Min Ramadan, who was deeply injured through arresting him, and 2 torture cases happened in the , what so called, the fourth floor slaughter house in Alexandria security directorate.

Also, we had the news of arresting a whole family of a student from Cairo University as they have arrested the student, his father, and his brother from their house. A student and her mother were randomly arrested from one of the streets in Mansoura, then they were set free few hours later. A disabled student in Zagazig University was randomly arrested and another student suffers diabetes was arrested.

A student in Al Minya University is forcibly hidden till today. We knew that Mohammad Hassan El Hendy’s family found his corpse torn off due to the explosion of a hand made bomb. Worth mentioning that the student was arrested and hidden a while ago and his body was found nearby the police office in Ismailia that supports the probability that he died due to torture not due to trying to explode himself as the ministry of interiors claim, the claim that was denied by forensic.

Second: 26th Jan 2015

Abdul Rahman Hisham, the student

in the the second year in Al Ahram institute for engineering was killed due to the excessive use of violence against protesters and the continuous suppressive policy that the security forces use.

We have witnessed 4 arbitrary random illegal arresting cases  for 4 students besides arresting the assistant of the sportive committee secretary in Damanhour and a student in Al Azhar University, who have  been added to the list of the accused people in one of the cases related to terrorism that the ministry of interior had published before.

Thrid: 27th Jan 2015

7 illegal and arbitrary arresting cases happened on the 27th Jan 2015 as the security forces continue to use their suppressive way. 6 of the arrested students were at the University and 1 is at the secondary. We have also witnessed a torturing case in Damanhour where the security forces tortured a student to force him to admit a group of charges. Also, security forces in Mansoura had hidden two students after they were arbitrarily arrested from the area in front of Sandoub bridge.

Fourth: 28th Jan 2015

The suppressive acts continued the same way for the fourth day in a row when Mahmoud Al Masry, the student in the computers institute, as injured in his shoulder throughout the security forces trial to adjourn one of the demonstrations.

Also, 3 students were arbitrarily arrested on the 28th Jan 2015 in Mansoura.

Fifth: 29th Jan 2015

The number of illegally arrested students on that day reached 20 students, 13 of them are in the secondary stage and 7 are in the University. We also had news about torturing them in Talkha police office. On the same day, a student in Al Azhar was arrested from his house, then he was hidden and all police offices deny having him. worth mentioning that the student received a bird bullet in one of his eyes that caused disability to see with it as he is suffering weak sight in the other eye.

We didn’t stop observing all the violations that keep going on against all laws , traditions and basic human rights that is represented in keeping everyone’s right to express his opinion in a legal way without putting any limits, torturing or killing in an illegal way. We also condemn all these practices towards students and we demand reviewing these policies from the concerned institutions.
